On Stats my other weapon do 5x as much dmg, but in Game they need much longer to kill.Combat axes wont really cleave unless you push attack or you got the Antax MK V. It is the only combat axe with a cleave stat and actually starts cleaving 2-3 targets with normal attacks at 50% even without the blessing. With brutal momentum and proper stats it can probably be one of the best melee weapons in the game.

The new damage values for gear are excellent but one thing they dont show is the base crit values of various weapons or attacks. In Vermintide 2 for instance, the dagger had bonus crit on most of its attacks, the 1h axe had 10% crit on one of its downward heavies etc. If you had a build focussed around crit procs you could find a list of viable ...Knives are kinda fun, but after getting used to Tactical Axes, I found myself in the same exact position as you did. The Combat Axe has un upswing special Action that does little damage on both armoured and unarmoured targets, repeated hits doesnt seem to do anything either and its a slow attack that cant be spammed.

I switched out the bolter for the flamer since axe makes good work of armoured specials and the flamer is really good for gaining control of situation, especially ones that have gone bad, which is very handy in damnation.
